I'm more than happy with this equipment. The sound from this unit is more than I could have hoped for. As of yet I'm not using the rear speakers because of the location but when we replace the carpet we are going for the full 7.1 sound.
So, I am charged for the system two months before I have a working unit (and that's assuming the replacement works.). 20-Dec. 9. I ordered the Samsung HT-AS720 on October 11, my credit card was charged on October 13, and it arrived on October 17. I would HIGHLY suggest, if you take a chance and order this system, that you plug the receiver in and make sure it powers up BEFORE you spend any time running wires and hooking it up.I'll post another review if I ever get this system working. The AV receiver was dead as soon as I tried to turn it on, just like a previous poster on this board stated. I spent several hours on the 18th setting it up, running wires to the speakers and connecting it to my HD cable box, Bluray player and HD TV. I called Amazon and they are sending me a replacement but it will not arrive until Nov.
Most recently I purchased a brand new Samsung LCD TV. I'm am very satified with my purchase and would recommend it to anyone. I can hear so much more than I did with my older system. Other than that, I really have no other gripe. I upgraded from an older Kenwood surround sound system to the Samsung HT-AS720S, and I must say the sound is awesome.
The system is great and if you have several devices to connect, the receiver supports it. If the system is set-up correctly you will enjoy theater quality sound right in your home.Functionality is a different bag. The system allows for 6 or 7.1 surround sound as well. With my old DLP I had no video problems. I have to turn off then turn on the system just to get a picture.
I was blown away by the full HD surround sound. I currently have my PS3 and Xbox connected to the system. This is discouraging when you consider that both the TV and surround sound system are both Samsung. It's louder, crisp and clear. With this TV connected to the receiver I get this message, "Mode not compatible". Haven't found out exactly how this happens.
The subwoofer can put out some serious bass. For the most part it works just fine, but every once in a while I have to shut-off the receiver and turn it back on when I hear static coming through.
Am surprised that its only 650 W but seriously do you need anything higher at home or the neighbors will call 911. The subwoofer right out of the box is heavy.and after listening to it.you can feel some heavy bass and thunder. Cons: the receiver is unnecessarily large.so i had a hard time fitting it into my glass tv stand.so I had to make some space sacrafices.Final Verdict: Delightfully pleased with theater home sound. Pros: Just got the Samsung AS720 Home Theater and let me say how impress that I am with the sound. It does liven the movie experience.
The sub also sounds great and appears to be high quality. Anyway, the unit works great and I have no complaints. It has very high quality channel amplifiers and the 4 full-range speakers sound very nice too. When I received my HT-AS720, it wouldn't even turn on. I guess the connector was probably not fully seated and dislodged itself sometime during shipment. As I started to closely inspect the unit, I discovered that the main 110v power connector inside of the unit wasn't connected to the power supply. Samsung quality control wasn't very effective for this unit.
